SUBJECT: Readoption schedule: 12 NCAC 09

The following is submitted as required by Mr. Travis Wiggs, for rules under the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission (CJETS), whose periodic review reports were approved by the Rules Review Committee at the September 2025 meeting.

This timeline is a proposed readoption schedule for the above-mentioned rules. The dates noted on the timeline refer to a deadline, and not a specific date, as the meeting dates for the Criminal Education and Training Standards Commission for 2027 have not yet been established.

Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission: 12 NCAC 09B Completed on or before*:

Presentation of rules at CJETS meeting February 2026 - May 2027

Publication of Notice of Text: March 2026 - June 2027

Public Hearing: At least 15 days but no later than 60 days after notice of text is published.

Public Comment Period: August 2026 – August 2027

CJETS meetings for final adoption: August 2026 – August 2027

Submission of rules to OAH for RRC consideration August 2026 – August 2027

Rules Review Commission review: September 2026 – September 2027

Earliest Effective Date of Rules: October 1, 2026 – October 1, 2027

Changes to rules being re-adopted will occur during the normal course of business for the Commission and will be submitted as readoption with changes. No changes are anticipated after the public comment period. No fiscal note is required.
